Shift Leader/Manager
Full-time (40+ hrs/wk)
Hometown Cafe & Poké Bar is seeking an experienced shift leader/manager to join our tight knit team. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, committed to delivering exceptional customer service, have a strong sense of urgency, be experienced leading a team, and have a positive attitude. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Effectively running designated shift and performing any and all duties to ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant
Ensuring food safety, quality and accuracy of orders
Effectively handling guests' needs and/or complaints
Providing training, coaching and direction to team members during assigned shift.
Managing online deliveries
Opening/closing cash drawer and making deposits
Managing opening and closing checklists
Ensuring dining room, kitchen, and bathrooms are clean and well-stocked at all times
Receiving and checking deliveries
Overseeing proper product preparation, rotation (FIFO), portioning, cooking and holding times, and refrigeration logs
Ensuring that health and safety standards are followed at all times
Required Qualifications:
Two years of shift lead/managing experience in the restaurant industry
Strong communication skills and a friendly disposition
Thorough understanding of poké ingredients and an ability to articulate our menu offerings
Punctual and reliable – tardiness and missed shifts are not tolerated
Ability to remain calm and work quickly when there is a rush of customers
Availability to work during store hours (Tues-Fri 9am-9pm, Sat/Sun 10am-9pm)
Must be authorized to work in the US
ServSafe certified or the ability to become certified within the first 30 days
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Front of House
Full-time (40 hrs/wk) and Part-time (15-30 hours/week)
Are you enthusiastic and enjoy working with people? We are looking for team members who will represent the Hometown brand by being friendly, helpful, and making each customer visit a memorable experience. Our front of the house responsibilities include taking customer orders, guiding customers through menu options, answering questions, serving pastries and drinks, assembling bowls, and working the cash register.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Taking orders and ringing up customers
Serving pastries and making/serving drinks
Cleaning and restocking store
Assembling bowls
Customer service including troubleshooting issues
Required Qualifications:
Strong communication skills and a friendly disposition
Thorough understanding of poké ingredients and an ability to articulate our menu offerings
Punctual and reliable – tardiness and missed shifts are not tolerated
Patience and a desire to help customers attain 100% satisfaction
Ability to remain calm and work quickly when there is a rush of customers
Availability to work during store hours (Daily 10am-9pm)
Cashier and/or food & beverage experience is a plus!
Kitchen Prepper & Cook
Full-time (40 hrs/wk) and Part-time (15-30 hours/week)
Are you a hard worker with mad knife skills? We are looking for team members who can do a variety of prep work and cooking in our kitchen. Our back of the house responsibilities include chopping veggies, cutting fish, making rice, blending sauces, and refreshing/rotating ingredients in the poké bar. Culinary experience is not required, but is preferred. All training will be provided regardless of skill level.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepping all menu ingredients (fish, veggies, rice, sauce, etc.)
Labeling all perishable items with names and dates
Refilling and restocking poké bar
Maintaining time and temperature logs
Organizing and maintaining clean workstations
Alerting managers of low inventory and out of stock items
Required Qualifications:
Desire to learn and execute basic chopping and cooking techniques
Ability to prioritize and pivot across multiple tasks
Punctual and reliable – tardiness and missed shifts are not tolerated
Willingness to follow instructions and embrace feedback
Ability to lift 50lb bags of rice and stand on your feet for hours at a time
Availability to work during store hours (Daily 10am-9pm)
Prior kitchen/prep cook experience is a plus!
Marketing & Social Media Intern
Part-time Internship (8-12 hours/week)
Are you social media savvy with a knack for marketing? We are looking for a marketing and social media intern to work with us to increase brand awareness and customer engagement. Candidate must be able to take initiative and work independently and alongside management on multiple marketing initiatives.
Please note this internship is unpaid but may be eligible for college credit depending on your program. For the exceptionally motivated candidate, this internship can lead to a part-time paid position as we continue to grow. Hours and start and end dates are flexible.
Required qualifications:
Proficiency and understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with the Hometown brand and values
A thirst for knowledge and problem solving
Experience with Photoshop and graphic design tools is a plus!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Drafting monthly newsletters and updating the mailing list
Taking photographs (food, storefront, lifestyle, etc.)
Posting to social media and engaging with customers
Design custom marketing materials for print and online
Identifying partnership opportunities and building relationships
Acting as a communication liaison to keep local publications informed of upcoming events
